1. Over the Christmas holidays I got to relive my misspent youth in the best pub in the world ever!! Fact. The Duck & Drake in Leeds. The Taylors’ Landlord was absolutely perfect, so smooth & a beautiful fruity flavour going down & tastes just as good ‘on the burp’ heh heh ;-)

The pub is virtually identical to when I ‘were a lass’ (unlike a lot of Leeds’ centre). The prices have changed a bit though. I used to pay £1.06 for a pint of Landlord, that’s when Tetleys & the like was about 90p a pint. Good times :-)

  2. Sproutgate 2012
Anyone that knows me, knows that I hate sprouts with a passion & back in 2009 I ate one to get my brother Simon to wear his Christmas hat.
2009 was our first Christmas spent together and sadly the last spent with our Mum & with Steve’s (our friend & host) Mum who both passed away in 2010.
This year we spent Christmas with Pam & Steve again so, in tribute, I ate another……

  3. Merry Christmas tumblr folk!

I’m lucky to be with my oldest & bestest friend in the whole world :-D

  4. What’s happening up there?

  6. In other news……

It would have been my Mum’s 61st birthday a couple of days ago (7th August) .

I found her absence a little easier this year than last year. Last year it was still very raw because it was the first birthday without her and I felt mightily aggrieved that she missed that 60th milestone. I just hid under the duvet wishing the day away.

So on Tuesday I spent some quiet time looking through old photos and even re-reading the condolence cards that people sent. So many people had such lovely things to say about her. I feel really proud when I read them :-)

I don’t live near the cemetery where her ashes are interred so instead I made a post on facebook to her. It’s daft I know, but it’s no dafter than talking to someone’s gravestone.

People leave huge holes when they disappear.

  7. Pox Ridden Arrrgghhhhh!!!!!

Well this week has been much fun.

Last weekend this horrible itchy rash started to erupt all over my body. When I say all over, I mean everywhere from my neck down to to the tips of my fingers and toes.
I’ve been fighting it with anti-histamines and slathering it with lotion in a vain effort to ease the itching.

It’s as itchy and lumpy as chicken pox urgggghhhh. These photos I’ve posted aren’t the worst of it but I didn’t want you to lose your dinner ha ha :-)

Put it this way, if you were to run your fingers over me, I reckon you’ll find a braille transcription of “War and Peace”.

So today, for the first time since last Saturday, I actually managed to get my butt out of the house to visit the chemist. I’ve come away with some anti-histamines that I can take 4 times a day and some cream that looks like pink lard.

My sleeping patterns are crappy at the best of times, but this has had me sleeping for an hour so & waking myself up scratching.

I don’t know for sure what’s caused it. The chemist agreed that it’s likely it’s something I’ve ingested as it’s not a localised rash. Two days before the rash appeared I started on a new daily medication, so this weekend I’m not going to take this medication & see if the rash subsides.

I do hope it’s not the new meds because I’m running out of alternatives to try (that’s another story).

Suffice to say, this Miss Vixen feels less like a fox and more like pox ridden road kill ha ha :-)

Oh yeah….and this hot weather is really helping, cheers universe :-[

  8. I think the knackers yard is trying to get me!!!

    1) Last week I aborted crossing the road at the last minute because I saw a van coming quite quickly. Then in a split second, I lost my balance and fell into the road, landed on my knees right in front of the aforementioned van. I wasn’t even drunk or wearing stupid shoes! So humiliating :-$

    2) Found clothes in the washing machine that I didn’t remember putting in there.

    3) Watching Frasier and commented “I like Martin’s cane. I like those four feet on the bottom. They look really sturdy”.

    4) Waiting for my prescription in the chemist I found my self lurking in a quiet corner right by the incontinence products and disability aids. There were a pair of black mens’ shoes with a velcro strap. I commented that they looked ‘comfy’.

    5) Watched an elderly lady get on the bus with her wheeled walking frame. It had a seat on it on as well. I was feeling quite hot & tired and decided that I wouldn’t mind one of those.

    Helllllp!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. People.

    People perplex me.

There was the lady on the bus today who thought it was perfectly acceptable to have her shopping in the aisle, just at the top of the stairs, perfectly placed for me to go arse over tit climbing over it. (I didn’t, but someone less able might well have). The bus wasn’t busy, she could have sat somewhere else.

Then there was the cyclist, cycling (illegally), sneaking up behind me on the pavement, nearly colliding with me because I didn’t know he was there. You need rear view mirrors to walk now.

And then there are people on here who write stupid throw away thoughtless comments. Their post gets lots of likes & reblogs from other equally stupid and thoughtless people. They get attention for 2 minutes. They feel liked and popular for 2 minutes and for what? Scroll, scroll, poof gone, until it reappears again on someone else’s blog to offend and annoy more people.

I just wish people could be more thoughtful and more considerate towards other people.

It’s no wonder that more and more people suffer from Social Anxiety Disorder and Depression when they’re surrounded by people who are selfish, thoughtless and rude as a matter of course.

It seems ‘cool’ to be a selfish, inconsiderate bastard, doing nothing and criticizing everything.

What’s wrong with just being nice?
